Community First: Honoring the People Who Keep Oxford and Lafayette County Running

At Russom Construction, building a stronger community goes far beyond the projects we complete. It means investing in the people who make Oxford and Lafayette County a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

This summer, our team had the privilege of serving appreciation lunches to approximately 270 first responders, utility workers, and public servants across the community. While the idea was inspired by the incredible dedication shown during this year's winter ice storm, it quickly grew into something much bigger, an opportunity to simply say "thank you."

Throughout the summer, Chad Russom and the Russom Construction team visited agencies across Lafayette County, serving meals to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department, Oxford Police Department, Oxford Utilities, Northeast Mississippi Electric Power Association, and every shift of the Oxford Fire Department.

These are the men and women who respond when emergencies happen, restore power after storms, direct traffic around construction projects, protect our neighborhoods, and work behind the scenes every day to keep our community running. Their work often happens long before most of us are awake or long after the workday ends, and much of it goes unnoticed.

For Chad Russom, showing appreciation was a natural extension of the relationships Russom Construction has built throughout the community. Whether working alongside utility crews during new developments or partnering with local agencies on construction projects, these organizations are an important part of making progress possible.

The appreciation lunches were never intended to be elaborate events. They were simply an opportunity to slow down, share a meal, shake a few hands, and thank the people whose commitment and service often go without recognition.

Community has always been an important part of Russom Construction's mission. Through its Community First outreach, the company remains committed to finding meaningful ways to give back to the people and organizations that serve Oxford and Lafayette County every day.

While this summer's appreciation lunches were inspired by a specific moment in our community's history, the gratitude behind them extends far beyond one season. Russom Construction hopes to continue recognizing those who dedicate themselves to serving others and strengthening the community we are proud to call home.

Because at the end of the day, strong communities aren't built by one company alone. They're built by neighbors, partnerships, and people who show up for one another every single day.
